Baggy clothing is not a good idea in tumbling class because when they tumble, baggy T-shirts can fly up or get caught on things. Baggy clothing also makes it very hard for the teachers to spot the students and it also makes it hard for teachers to see if the student is holding a proper form. The pictures below are only examples, as long as the girls have a leotard on and the boys have a tighter fitting shirt or tank (tucked in!) it is acceptable.

Girls
·     Hair must be secured away from face

·     Preferred attire is tights and a leotard

·     Jazz shorts or ballet skirt can be worn

·     No t-shirts or baggy clothing

·     NO JEANS

      NO PAJAMAS

Tumbling

Hip Hop

Boys

·     Black pants or shorts that sit at waist

·     Solid colored tank top or athletic shirt or tighter               fitting T-shirt

The only dance class that does not have a specific dress code is Hip Hop. But comfortable clothing that is easy to move in is required as well as tennis shoes.

Adult Classes

·    Comfortable workout clothing is acceptable. No leotard required.
But you are welcome to wear one if you like.

Dance Shoes
Students should wear shoes appropriate for the style of the class they are taking. We have a few tap and ballet shoes available at the studio for students to borrow for the first class or two or if they a just trying a class but the appropriate shoes must be purchased at either MGM's consignment shop, Attitudes in Carriage Parkway, Payless Shoes, Academy Sports or online. MGM is not responsible for supplying dance shoes for your student(s).

If you have any questions about the attire or where to purchase feel free to contact Laura or Christy at MGM and they will be glad to help you.

Class Attire

Proper dance attire and shoes must be worn - dress for success - look the part, and dress like a dancer!  Hair should always be pulled back off the face.  No loose hair or jewelry.  Gum chewing is not allowed due to danger of choking and appearance. Please label all your shoes, bags, clothes, etc.

Why Dress Requirements?

*  A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teacher, and the art of dance.

*  Teachers must see the dancer's body outline clearly in order to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc.

Below are some picture of examples. We do not require any certain color or style. A leotard is required for girls in all classes but Hip Hop and Adult classes. If you have any questions or concerns, Ms. Christy or Ms. Laura or your child's dance instructor will be happy to help you.
